ESL Class in Pittsboro

I really enjoyed watching Lori’s class last night. Her students were working on goals, vocabulary and a city project. I left the classroom with a big smile after seeing how much students have accomplished and what a wonderful job Lori and Nancy are doing 🙂

Hispanic Heritage Festival in Downtown Siler City

What: 3rd Annual Hispanic Heritage Festival at the 3rd Friday ArtWalk

When: Friday, September 19, 2014 6:00 – 9:00 pm

Where: Downtown Siler City – Corner of Second and Chatham Ave., Siler City

Siler City, NC: In a community of approximately 50% Hispanic residents, September’s ArtWalk will be an exciting celebration of diversity. Members from the Hispanic Liaison, the Family Violence and Rape Crises Center, Child Care Networks and Communities in Schools are partnering with the NC Arts Incubator and Courtyard Coffee to showcase Hispanic art and culture during the September 19th ArtWalk in downtown Siler City.

The celebration will include the performance by the Salvadorian Duo Krisia Duran y Alexander Ernesto Molina, and other dancers will be there to surprise the audience too. There will be arts and crafts and live music. There will be a variety of Hispanic foods. There will also be cultural tables representing many nations in Central and South America, so visitors can stop by and have a glimpse of the overall richness of Latin America.

The NC Arts Incubator is proud to present a show by Jasmine Villabobos in the PAF Gallery. Jasmine is a tremendously gifted artist that maintains a studio at the Incubator. She is originally from Costa Rica and has honed an outstanding style for expressing her amazing gift. Jasmine paints predominately in coffee; the contrast she achieves through the use of a unique medium displays a dynamism that is rare in the art community.

Jon Spoon, Executive Director of the NC Arts Incubator said “We are excited to be putting on the Hispanic Heritage celebration in Siler City for the third year. The Hispanic community here has such a strong presence; this is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the diverse and rich cultural makeup of Chatham County.”

Rachel Cone, Executive Director of the Hispanic Liaison in Siler City, added “We are happy to partner with other local organizations to host the 2014 Hispanic Heritage Art Walk. This is a fun event for Hispanics and non-Hispanics to come together for a celebration of Hispanic history and culture. We hope you will join us!”
